she liked the ambiguous moments

dwelling in uncertainty
is where she felt most alive

she sat on porch steps
listening to the hum
of summer nights
digesting humidity
and wondering
what
came
next

often dehydrated,
she had to remind herself
to go inside to the kitchen
and fill up a glass

it was neither half full
or half empty
it just was
a collection of molecules
she could infuse
with judgements
at her whimsy

if there was a god,
certainly s/he held
the universe
within a glass
while contemplating
ambiguity.
